Our Services

Emergency Care

Emergency aches and pains can be an unpredictable dilemma.Toothaches can range from a minor inconvenience to a very miserable experience. Our office strives to work in emergency exams and procedures to limit the amount of pain of every patient.

Emergency dental care may not only relieve unnecessary suffering, but may actually save teeth. For Emergency cases, we request patients call 918-299-2298 for the next available appointment.

Children’s Dentistry

Healthy habits and regular dental visits are the best way to influence a child’s oral health. Dr. Simer believes that positive early experiences are a key to a lifetime of health and reduced dental anxiety. Throughout his career, he has truly valued the opportunity to establish trust and interact with children.

We recommend cleaning and examining children’s teeth every 6 months. Our dentist will also perform a fluoride treatment to prevent future tooth decay. The fluoride will make young teeth more resistant to plaque and sugars in the mouth.

Our office uses digital x-ray equipment which allows our dentist to better diagnose any treatment necessary and exposes your child to less radiation than older machines. If cavities are detected, Dr. Simer will use composite (white) fillings.

While examining the development of children’s baby teeth and permanent teeth, Dr. Simer will also be able to discuss with parents if braces should be explored as an option to ensure crucial spacing in adolescent development. We regularly field and answer questions from concerned parents on the development and spacing of their children’s teeth.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Our office works hard to provide the most realistic and cosmetically satisfying results for each case. By providing the most current dentistry, our office will provide a smile you’ll be confident to share with the world.

Beautifully Restoring Your Teeth

Every filling performed in our office is a tooth-colored composite material. Through sculpting and artistry, the teeth edges can be created into both a practical and attractive restoration.

Life-like crowns can also provide the visual beauty of a tooth but provide the structural integrity to your tooth if required. Crowns, bridges, and implants may be fabricated to restore the appearance of missing teeth or provide a more pleasing appearance.

For patients who are looking for a more intensive cosmetic change, veneers are a good option to explore. By creating custom made shells that can be applied over your current teeth. The color, shape, and spacing of your smile may be visually altered. A consultation with Dr. Simer is the best place to start when evaluating your best options.

Jenks Family Dentistry also provides whitening alternatives to those patients interested. We are continuing to expand these options and look forward to discussing further during your consultation.

Fillings and Restorations

A filling is the replacement of natural and/or decayed tooth structure with a biologically compatible material. Recent advances in the development of tooth colored restorations (composites) have led to better physical and cosmetic quality in restoration.

Once decay starts on the tooth surface, it will continue to progress within the tooth structure leading to further tooth weakness and pain. It’s important to perform fillings early to save the tooth and prevent progression into the dental nerves. Early fillings will save patients money in the long term because once the decay has reached the nerve a root canal will be required to save the tooth.

The illustration below demonstrates the progression of tooth decay from early detection and eventually into the inner dentin and pulp of a tooth. The increasing decay may cause painful infection and will eventually require a root canal to remove infected tissue internal to the tooth.

Root canals

A root canal is necessary when decay has led to infection within the roots of the affected tooth. The infection must be removed to decrease swelling and painful inflammation. The photo below demonstrates the progression of removing the initial pulp in an affected tooth and eventually clearing the infected tissue deep within the canals of the tooth.

Root canal therapy is the physical and chemical removal of gross nerve tissue from the tooth and the replacement of that tissue with an inert filler. Any infection remaining in the surrounding tissue will slowly dissipate over time.

A filling, known as a build up, is inserted to replace missing tooth structure after the root canal therapy is performed. A crown is necessary after root canal therapy to prolong the life of the tooth and protect it from fracture.

Once the pulp has been affected, a root canal is a patients best and last chance to truly save a tooth for life long use.

Bridges and Crowns

Crowns are a full coverage porcelain restoration of your existing tooth or implant. They are typically required when more than half of the natural tooth structure has to be replaced with a filling material. Crowns can be used to restore the full cosmetic appearance of a tooth but often more importantly are necessary to add full strength to the tooth structure.

In a situation where a tooth has been extracted, a bridge may be used to restore the patient’s smile. A bridge is a series of crowns, that will be anchored to neighboring teeth and visually restore the appearance of the teeth.

Dental Implants offer a long-term solution to restore missing or damaged teeth. Some advantages of dental implants are as follows:

Strong and Stable solution that allows a patient to still use the tooth functionally but alsoVery high resolution 3d rendering of a dental implant over white maintains the natural face shape and smile. The diagram to the right shows a common implant assembly. Once the implant screw is inserted into the bone, a porcelain crown matching the patients tooth color will be attached. The strength of the implant will allow the patient to chew normally while having the appearance of a natural face shape and smile.

Cosmetically Attractive tooth that isn’t vulnerable to cavities but will still provide the resistance necessary to prevent neighboring teeth from shifting in an empty space over time.

When a tooth is missing, the empty space in the mouth can lead to bone loss and deterioration of the jawbone. An implant is the only restoration that actually stimulates bone growth and health.

Cleaning and Exams

People of all ages should see their dentist twice a year for a professional screening. These visits can help your provider instruct patients on brushing habits or the ongoing health of tooth enamel. A dental prophylaxis (professional cleaning) will remove calculus or decay that may be impenetrable by daily maintenance.

In addition, each appointment allows a dentist to perform an oral cancer screening. Early detection of oral cancers is critical to a successful treatment and patient outcome.

Most dental insurances understand the importance of visiting the dentist every 6 months and will cover the patients’ costs for both prophylaxis, oral cancer screenings, and x-rays when needed. Please inquire with our office to better understand your insurance coverage.

Regular professional dental care and good oral hygiene can add comfort, enjoyment, and years to the life of your teeth.
